The film is based on the problems of aborigines of Kerala and the meddling of mainstream society that is uprooting them, even from those miserable living conditions in their motherland. The story develops in the largest hamlet of tribal population in Kerala, Wayanad, where tribals continue in serfdom, working hard round the clock to please the self styled local landlords. Tribals were ejected out of their home land because of high voltage migration, large scale plantations and construction of dams in the area. It was also due to the fact that it was not a custom among them to protect individual land holdings as private property with boundaries and fencing. Adivasi land issue continues to be a burning concern even after so many protests and struggles.
